What makes you feel empowered in your identity?
Holding my wife’s hand, the color pink, wearing my keys, the growing friendships I have with my siblings!
What does your 2SLGBTQ+ identity mean to you?
I was raised in a faith that had a pretty strict and defined path for life that was determined by gender. I made myself miserable trying to figure out how I could be honest with myself and still try to live that life. When I left, it was a relief to let go of the impossible standards that I’d been clinging to. I am worthy of love and meaningful relationships because I exist! I don’t have to become an ideal version of me to love myself, or others.
What is one (or more) of your favorite things about yourself?
I am incapable of being chill about the things I care about. I am generous with kind words!
What is your favorite part about the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Oklahoma? What would you like to see more of?
Our community is rich in talent and passion. I would love to see more sober friendly spaces!
