What they don’t tell you about booking a professional photographer

  1. Your professional photographer is also a professional AT posing

    • One of the biggest hesitations I hear from people about booking a photography session is that they don’t know how to pose or don’t feel like they are “good” in front of the camera. The good news to that is… your job isn’t “posing” or being “good in front of the camera”. Your only job is to show up. When you book me as your photographer, you are hiring a professional with nearly 20 years of experience. I have taken pictures of hundreds, thousands of individuals and every person is a little different. Because of this experience, I have learned the best poses for all body types, styles, aesthetics, etc. And I’m a professional, so I know how to communicate those things to you and show you how to make yourself comfortable and posed in front of the camera. I will walk you through everything.

3. You aren’t just paying someone to click a button on a camera.

  • I like to call my sessions an “Experience”, because that truly is what you are paying for. Even before we get to the studio, I love to take the time to get to know my clients, hear about their goals and dreams for their session, and do everything I can to make that a reality.

  • Once it’s session day, you are the star of the show. We will listen to your favorite music, let loose and have fun. I like to call myself a professional hype man and I live by that. I will do everything in my power to make certain you feel beautiful, celebrated and comfortable

  • Pro tip: make it even more of an experience by opting in for professional hair and makeup so you can look AND feel your best.

2. You do not need a gallery of hundreds of images

  • A lot of people are drawn to photographers that give you a LOT of images for a lower price. More bang for your buck, right? Well… I think focusing on quantity entirely misses the point. For one, part of the photographers job is culling through images to find the best ones: best poses, best expression, best composition. If you get 10 images back of basically the exact same shot, you're still going to look through to find your favorite to share. Nobody is sharing their entire gallery of images; a lot probably end up going entirely unused.

  • It’s my priority to curate a gallery for you where every single image feels equally beautiful and important to you. And because you aren’t getting a gallery of 100+ images, each image gets direct and lengthy attention and care in the editing process. These images are art, and we treat it as such. When you get your gallery of 10-40 images (depending on your package), you can rest knowing all of them are images you specifically chose and each have received detailed focus and editing so that you receive your dream images.
